More EarthRocks & MoonSwings travelled to a happy new home!

A while back, I wrote about the new additions to my series ''EarthRocks & MoonSwings''. Started back in 2012, I never thought that this Galaxic Bromance would turn out to be one of my most popular and best-selling series.

Part of the reason why this series is so succesful, I think is because of its almost unbearable overdosage of cute - this is a series primarily about unconditional friendship, of a bond that can't be broken, for being there for each other, no matter what. Relationships like those are very hard to come by, as Life constantly shapes and influences friendships and puts them to the test.

So, when asked to draw more of these because one buyer had absolutely fallen in love with them and really wanted to give one to his brother who was getting married, I felt motivated to draw a couple more. And in total, 11 new ''EarthRocks & MoonSwings'' have seen the light! Will add them to the Series Galleries soon!

And guess what, almost immediately after sharing them on my Facebook page, another buyer stepped forward and purchased one, too. And so, a couple of weeks ago, ''EarthRocks & MoonSwings #44'' moved to its happy new home - and judging by the picture buyer sent me the other day, I think they are in really great company!

''EarthRocks & MoonSwings #35'': a brotherly wedding gift

Very proud to show this piece of Witty Art, a special commission for a special occasion: a wedding gift from one brother to another.

Buyer spotted my earlier created series of 'EarthRocks & MoonSwings' on this blog and figured that this display of galaxic bromance would the perfect gift to surprise his brother with on his wedding day. Only problem being, the drawings from the first series created back in 2012-2013 he had his eye on, had all been sold - so, what better motivation than to create a couple of new ones, especially for this occasion?

So, I created a number of 11 new works in total, of which I showed a previous preview here on this blog. Ofcourse, I will display them all later in good order, but first, I wanted to share with you the one that turned out to be the buyer's choice.

And as always, I was surprised, as Nr 35 was not the one I myself thought he would choose, but he and his wife admitted it was a difficult task, as they had fallen in love with all of these 11 new adventures of Little Earth and Little Moon. So, we agreed that they'd be back in January next year to choose another one, for themselves.

Mind you, they have to exclude Nr 44, as that one is already picked by another buyer ;-)

For those of you who are struck with curiosity now, you will have to contain it somewhat longer, before I will post them all here. Or .. hasten yourself to my Instagram Profile (and follow me there, if you like) as I have already started posting them ''en groupe'' there!

Special commission: EarthRocks & MoonSwings are still rocking away!

This week I am working a very special commission, for a very special occasion. A special request, coming from a good friend, who displayed a great deal of interest in my series ''EarthRocks & MoonSwings'', which I started a couple of years ago. To be precise, in the years in 2012-2013 and I had not been working on this particular series since that time. If you like, this is the blogpost in which I introduced them to the world.

There are quite a few people out there who happen to own a piece of this series, basically a tale of an unconditional friendship, an unbreakable bond between Little Earth & Little Moon, formed when they were young, way back when their galaxy was young too - and not one that far, far, far away. A happy and caring duo, who are always there for each other, no matter how Rocky the Road and whatever Mood will Swing... You see, there is a little hidden corner in the dystopian World of Witty Art that you might call a happy, carefree place. It's there where Little Moon & Little Moon play, walk, dance and have fun together. For as long as EarthRocks & MoonSwings, everything's gonna be just fine ... ;-)

So, I created a couple of new ones, 11 in total. These new additions are a bit bigger than the ones from the first batch from 2012-2013. Those all measured 10x 15 cm and these new ones are each about the size of an A5. I used the same materials as back then, starting with graphite pencil just to sketch the initial outlay and then progressing with black indian ink and then adding watercolours.

Though perhaps not as intense or not as heavy as my other work, I found great pleasure in making these drawings, it was almost like I rediscovered this happy loving couple and it was good fun coming up with their little adventures and bringing them onto the paper.
Makes me wonder, perhaps I should introduce them to 'Lost Bear', who wanders alone on the furthest edges of the outer universe of Witty Art. Guess that would make a very interesting, if not confronting combination.

Now, does that sound as if there might be something like a little story coming up? Or a couple of stories, perhaps, a book even? ...

Who knows? Who wants to know? If you do, than feel free to follow me here on this blog or on my Instagram account!

The Earth Rocks, while the Moon Swings, performing a smashing duet!

It's been a while since the last Witty Art update, as I've been busy with organising a couple of Witty Projects, amongst others the third edition of the quaint and cosy arts 'n crafts market Plein du Publique, a co-creation/co-production together with Roling Ontwerpt. If you're interested, you can find a visual impression of Plein du Publique at my Witty Projects Blog or go to the Plein du Publique Facebook page.

But that all doesn't mean I haven't been busy with Witty Art, just haven't had the time to put some proper updates online - but making up for that right now!

Introducing: EarthRocks & MoonSwings
The first update being an introduction of a series that has been around since 2012, and actually has proven to be quite a popular one: ''EarthRocks & MoonSwings'', a series of small drawings (10 x 15 cm including a simple clip-on frame).

This series is part of the so-called XS (Xtra Small) Collection a line made up of miniature-sized and ditto-priced Witty Art Originals. That is, prices for works from the XS-line (available in standard sizes of 10x15, 13x18 and 18x24 max) are up to € 100,- max (including 6% VAT) and often are on special sale. By offering this XS Collection, I hope to make some of my art work accessible for people who don't have a huge budget - and hey, whether I ever make into the MoMa or not, I intend to keep it that way!

Little Moon & Little Earth
''EarthRocks & MoonSwings'' are what you could go call a happy-go-lucky duo. Despite some ''rocky times'' and a bit of ''moody blues'', they stick together no matter what, and either laugh, dance, jump, run, walk, stroll or even carry each other through life. Their world is actually not that bad and I guess I could describe this as one of the most carefree series I have made so far. Perhaps that is what's the secret to their popularity: people experience this to be a very uplifting series, as they can relate to the two characters in many ways. I've been told ''Little Moon & Little Earth'' to many people represent true friendship or even true love, capable of surviving anything.

Well, the slightly Dystopian World of Witty Art is one full of survivors, not necessarily the fittest (so sorry, Mr Darwin) but survivors none the least. And even though ''Little Moon & Little Earth'' are definitely more cheerful than most inhabitants of this world, they clearly belong there. Let's put it this way: if there were a party around the block tonight, you'd certainly want them around, for as the Earth Rocks and the Moon Swings, they will perform a smashing duet!

Interested in purchasing in these little fellas? Each individual ''EarthRocks & MoonSwings'' (10 x 15 cm) costs just € 50,- and that's including a simple, standard clipframe and 6% VAT (and excluding postal charges etc).

More drawings featuring these two little fellas are in progress, and, without going into further detail, I am also working on another art project involving these two. But, more information on that will be disclosed later. All in due time!
